Reviews Overview

Most Liked

Guests rave about the quality of the food at The Anchor Inn, with many highlighting the generous portion sizes and fair pricing. The service is noteworthy; staff members tend to be friendly, attentive, and skilled at making diners feel comfortable without being intrusive.

The array of live entertainment options also garners plenty of praise, ensuring that every visit can be an exciting experience, whether it’s live music or quiz night. Another significant highlight is the diverse drink selection; patrons enjoy tackling a comprehensive beer and wine list, enhancing their dining experience. During lunch, the special two-course menus at excellent prices also get noticed regularly.

Most Disliked

Some guests have reported that peak times can lead to long wait periods, especially on busy nights like Saturday. While this is a testament to its popularity, it can affect the dining experience, especially for those hoping for a quicker casual meal.

A small number of reviews mention the noise level during live events, which may not suit patrons looking for a quieter setting. Furthermore, the diversity of food options could be perceived as limited by those searching for a broader menu. However, the quality often outweighs these concerns, making it a minor trade-off for most.

Went last night to celebrate my dad who passed away last year. Didn't really know what to expect but was absolutely blown away. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Good sized portions and fairly priced too. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend a visit and will be going again as soon as I can. *****

This lovely place with immense character has a new Management and with their team they did start on the right foot for me. The food was tasty and nice portions too, the ingredients are of a high standard, representing therefore a great value for money. The service is attentive but not intrusive, in fact rather friendly but not overwhelming. Many thanks to Charlie, a great Manager, and also to his bar and kitchen staff. Overalk they are all keen to look after you and I did appreciated that a lot, thank you Team! Just a note on the Events side of things, I have not experienced it mysel but the feedback I got is already very positive.

Went here for lunch today and was so impressed. I have a few health issues and the waiter spoke to the chef who went out of his way to cook a delicious vegetarian shepherd's pie. All food was freshly cooked, piping hot, and delicious. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed without being overbearing. I go out for lunch regularly and havent seen service and food this good in a long time! Can't wait to go back!

Thank you so much for a lovely Saturday lunch. All but one of us five ladies had the £12.50 two course lunch menu. The food was excellent. Such good value and all served piping hot. The staff are all lovely and helpful. Special mention to the young man who looked after us so well nothing was too much trouble. All in all very impressed and will definitely return

Last minute decision to eat out. They squeezed us in without a booking, but they couldn’t do enough for us. The food was exceptional, large portions a great selection of vegetables & plenty of sides if you wanted more. Every part was beautifully cooked. The staff were all so friendly & welcoming. Literally can’t fault the meal or the team. Will be back.
